Balancing Act
Share Balancing Act on Facebook Share Balancing Act on Twitter Share Balancing Act on Linkedin Email Balancing Act linkCLOSED: This discussion has concluded.Get started below to see where budget funds are currently spent, change spending priorities by moving money between spending categories, or fund any spending increases (or increase the surplus) by increasing rates or other revenue such as fees and sales. If you increase one item of spending you can reduce another category to balance the budget, without increasing revenue. There are plenty of decisions to make so please allow time so you can fully understand the choices you make to balance the budget.
When setting your budget priorities please consider:
- What services are being provided now and what is needed in the future?
- What is financially responsible and affordable?
- Will adjusting general rate levels affect the services already provided?
- Will increasing funding to an expenditure item result in a better service?
- Will reducing funding to an expenditure item impact current community expectations regarding health and amenity?
- Who benefits from changes and who should pay?
- Would ratepayers support the level of general rate increase I am proposing?
There are key information and help bubbles that will assist you along the way.
